Ever heard of an antibody cocktail? This video will address the concept within the context of COVID-19. While most bacterial infections can be treated with antibiotics, viruses can be harder to combat since they infiltrate the individual’s cells and are not alive. This is why we actively prepare our bodies to fight against particularly terrible viruses through immunization. The large number of COVID-19 naïve bodies (individuals who are unvaccinated or have not previously been exposed to the virus) is putting a burden on healthcare systems around the world.
The WHO has recently endorsed the use of monoclonal antibodies to help patients combat COVID-19 under certain circumstances, a treatment that is already popular in the US. This video seeks to examine whether monoclonal antibody treatments are effective at combatting COVID-19.
