This video looks at the ways that the Canadian Government supports amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS) care and research. It introduces ALS and how prevalent it is in Canada, using statistics. Then it talks about what has been done to support ALS care and research in Canada, highlighting the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. Next, students at McMaster University are asked if they participated in the Ice Bucket Challenge and whether or not they thought it was an effective way to raise funds for ALS research. It also addresses the nature of research that has been conducted with support from the Canadian Government. Finally, it explains ways that the government has improved ALS care through funding and what more should be done.
